The Aniak River Lodge
The Aniak River Lodge.

Generally, some of the first questions people ask about a lodge are either "what's it near?" or "what's it like?" We'll tell you about the actual lodge below but our local population speaks best about the Aniak River Lodge:  King Salmon, Chum Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Silver Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Grayling, Artic Char, Lake Trout, Shee Fish, and Pike (more information about the fishing is on our Fishing Page ).

The Lodge is on the banks of the Kuskokwim River, in the village of Aniak ( pronounced "Annie-Ack" ), and close to the Aniak River. Furnished with modern conveniences, the lodge offers a view of some of the most spectacular scenery found in the "Last Frontier." The Lodge comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests per week. Your host provides breakfast, bag and occasional shore lunches, and dinner served family style. Telephone, fax service, and satellite TV are available at the Lodge. The Lodge does not provide beer, wine or liquor, but you are welcome to bring your own favorites.

What to Bring for the Climate & Memories

Be prepared for a full range of weather. From June through September daytime temperatures can range from 40 to 90 degrees F. Bring with you long underwear (polypropylene is best), long and short-sleeved shirts, shorts, sweater, rain jacket (high quality, subdued color), hat, fingerless wool gloves, comfortable camp shoes, jacket (down, thinsulate, or pile), bathrobe, shower thongs, toiletries, and insect repellant.

Plus, bring a camera and plenty of film. The scenery is majestic and it's common to see moose, beavers, bald eagles and other native birds, otters, minks, and bears in this wilderness of unsurpassed beauty.
