Fly fishers should be equipped with a minimum of two
fly rod/reel combinations - nine foot, 5 weight rod
for Trout, Grayling, Steelhead and Dolly Varden; and
a nine foot, eight or nine weight rod for larger
species including Salmon, Northern Pike, Shee Fish
and Lake Trout. Fly fishers should at a minimum carry
a selection of flies including egg and flesh fly
patterns, streamer and leech patterns, and attractor

Spin fishermen should also be equipped with two
outfits. A custom rod built on the 8' 6" four piece
Talon blank is excellent for Salmon, Pike and Shee
fish in Alaska. This is a rod that has performed
extremely well for several seasons on the Anaik
River. The rod should be equipped with a Shimano 4000
reel of your choice. A second rod for Trout would be
a 3 Piece 7' St. Croix or G. Loomis Light or Medium
light rod equipped with Shimano 2000 reel. We can
also provide 3 piece Casting rods to your
specifications.. Our Salmon, Trout and Pike lure
packs would complete your outfit and help to make
your Alaska adventure even more special. The Aniak
River series of rods and lures are endorsed by the
"Old Fisherman" Garnet.
